C-Real Set to Drop Debut Album 'EMCEO' on 1st December, 2012
The sharp increase in creativity around the world has brought the need for everyone to fasten their seat belt in order to meet the desire of the creative arts industry more effectively. C-Real is one superb Emcee who has braved the odds to deliver unparalleled quality with regard to his craft. He is also a poet, writer, producer and entrepreneur.
The Ghanaian lyricist has over the years carefully studied the trends of music globally and has discovered how best to meet up the task with unbeatable talent. C-Real first tasted stardom when he partook in the Sprite Emcee Africa competition reigning over his peers in Ghana emerging as the champion and securing himself the second spot on the Continent, even though he was tipped as the public’s favorite. He has never looked back.
The Emcee has churned out HipHop hits like “I Be Swag” with a supporting classy creative video. That Video was nominated for “4syte Music Video Awards 2011” as “Best HipHop Video”. One of his other videos that’s recently turned heads is the “Em.CEO” which has also been nominated for the MTN 4Syte Music Video Award 2012 as the “Best Hip Hop Video”. As a prelude to his upcoming album, he has released “It’s a Rap” and most recently a song titled “Kneel, Pray, Rise, Conquer” amongst others which has sparked a lot of speculation that the star might have shifted to gospel music.
This however is just one of the many ways the young icon would like his ever-increasing versatility to be known, as he has done something similar feeding the Global Azonto Craze with “Do the Azonto”. C-Real has put in the work and laid down all necessary structures to help the successful release of his much anticipated debut album. – “ ”. His style of music has attracted so many fans and admirers as his delivery encapsulates deep, grilling, and thought-provoking and intricate rap lines. Something truly missing in Ghanaian Hiphop and music at large. The star is know in real life as Cyril-Alex Gockel and hails from Hohoe in the Volta Region of Ghana.
C-Real has deep veneration for excellence as he foresees his career going to the very apex. He believes in positivity and this has geared him on to do music from his heart and with the people in mind. The Emcee’s upcoming album has got him busy, as he believes it will be one of the best albums in Ghana currently.
C-Real is enveloped by his passion for music. Anytime he thinks, breathes and sleeps, he still has his Ghanaian HipHop in mind as he describes it as the future.
His welcoming nature has urged him to stay interactive with the fans and he encourages them to follow him on Twitter: @C_RealGH
The debut album features the likes of Songstress & Diva "EfYa", Ace Producer and Songwriter "E.L." as well as Chase, Jtown and Botswana's own Emcee and BigBrother Africa Stargame contestant "Zeus". The album with this host of stars will surely be something to look out for this Christmas season.

Blurr, the journey so far
Blurr Cue Raymond, an artiste signed on to CUE records.
23 year old Blurr Cue Raymond has been
doing his own thing for the past few years in Kumasi and he shares his
thoughts on some issues with Totalshowbiz.com. He
believes that even though Azonto is currently the trend, it can never
sway him from mainstream hiphop, a genre he says is the rhythm and the
gospel of the streets.
It wasn’t easy to get the up-and-coming
rapper to open up to us, especially on his birthday (which falls today,
October 19), but first he shared a bit of his life with us.
TS: Why Blurr?
BCR:
Blur means something unclear so in other to know me,you need to get
closer to me to know me better. I’m a bit reserved naturally but deep
inside and up close, I’m a fun person to be with. Also, my lyrics are
not really straight forward, you gotta listen closely to decipher the
codes in my rhythms and lyrics.
TS: Before you blurr us out, tell us a bit about you.
BCR:
I recently graduated from the Kumasi Polytechnic and hope to further my
education soon. I rap, I produce beats and I write songs too. I’m
basically inspired by my surroundings, the people I listen to and the
people around around me. I’ve released many mixtapes unto the market and
I’m currently promoting the Blurricane, my
latest mixtape. I love to hang out mostly in the studio but I wouldn’t
miss the chance to hang out with great friends and great minds.
TS: What makes you different from other artistes around?
BCR:
I have a strong voice appeal that attracts people to listen. The blend
of English, Twi and Pidgin also enables my music to cut across all
angles. I think that’s why my mixtape is doing so well now. I also have
the support of the whole CUE and that sets me apart. You know, in this
industry one should have people looking out for them and that is exactly
what Peewezel and CUE does for me. It’s really heartwarming!
TS: Can you describe your first studio session?
BCR: laughs..Honestly,I
forgot all my bars when I entered the booth. I was shaking ‘cos there
were too many people around but I fell at ease after recording. I
believe practice makes man perfect so since then up to now, am still
polishing my skills. I’m still not perfect so am still learning.
TS: How do you feel when you hear your songs on radio?
BCR:
I feel honored and humbled ‘cos it makes me know my effort is not in
vain and it also gingers me to work more harder ‘cos not everyone gets
that opportunity. It’s refreshing really!
TS: Apart from you label mates, which artistes or producers would you love to work with?
BCR:
A whole lot including Kodi V, E.L, Ludacris, M.i, Edem, Kwabena Kwabena
etc. Even though I like lots of the folks in the industry, I don’t see
any one being a treat to me. I think I’m the special one..lol
TS: Would you call the Ghanaian music industry a progressive one?
BCR:
Nah, I think it’s just static. The ones already in the limelight ain’t
helping the ones underground. The music industry can be progressive when
the men in power learn to tolerate the ones underground. There are a
lot of undiscovered talents going waste because there are not being
given the opportunity. This has to change.
TS: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
BCR:
Good question! Most people say the sky is the limit but for me, it’s
gonna be my starting point. We are crossing boundaries. We are taking
Gh to another level. It’s all about CUE!
TS: Thanks for sharing some time off a day like this, your birthday to talk to us. Any final words?
BCR:
I will say a big thank you to my team, my family and everyone who
supports Blurr’s music. I really appreciate the love and all I can say
is I promise I won’t let y’all down ‘cos I hav more to give. Thank you.

ASEM to drop new single ‘Adole’ with Quabena Maphia
The GMA award winning rapper/songwriter Nana Asante Mensah
known to most as ASEM, following the success of his ‘Solid Ground’ album and
its lead single ‘Bye Bye’ with Kwabena Kwabena is set to drop his newest single
‘Adole’ on September 11th. The single which features Quabena Maphia
chronicles the life of a beautiful Ga woman named ‘Adole’ for whom the rapper
has so much praise and admiration for, is a fusion of Afro Gome (a traditional
Ga instrument), Techno and Funk. The song was produced by Genius selections (the
guy responsible for Edem’s ‘Over Again’) has Asem at his usual, telling a story
with dense lyrics and a poetic edge unlike any of his peers, couple that with
the silky vocals of Quabena Maphia and the probability that the classic song
will be an instant hit is undeniable.

THE GHANAIAN HIP-LIFE INDUSTRY
There have been a lot of hit makers in the Ghanaian music
industry, be it old school or new school. Since the days when Reggie Rockstone
first introduced it in Ghana, there have been quite a number of hiplife musicians
in the country. Some of these musicians helped to take the music genre to
another level, releasing hit after hit and keeping audiences happy wherever
they go. Rappers such as Akyeame, Lord Kenya, Obrafour, Buk Bak, Tic Tac, among
others have become household names and are still recognised as incredible
contributors to music in Ghana till date.
Some came in groups as others came in as solo artists. We
had musicians who came and made hit after hit whilst others came and fell off.
We’ve had groups split and get back together again, we’ve had groups split never
to be heard from again and we’ve solo artists get together as groups. The
question is what causes the break-ups and what makes some musicians one-hit
wonders? Is it that our musicians rush in bringing the music out? Or they just
lack the right people to manage their affairs for them?
We’ve had groups like Buk Bak split up only to discover that none of them fared any better alone (Bright put out an okay album as Ronny completely fell of the radar) and thus they needed to get back together to make the magic their fans know them for. We’ve had artists leave groups only to find out that there cannot survive on their own (Friction, who was the lead singer of V.I.P left the group and fell off whilst the group keeps soaring high till date). Some groups also split and the one people thought held the group together fell off whilst the other soared. Akyeame were one of the best groups in the country and most people thought Okyeame Quophi was the life force of the group till they split and Okyeame Kwame went on to become one of the most prolific lyricists in the country. Quophi has however diverted his attention to other more profitable ventures after his solo album failed to make the impact he was expecting.
There are other musicians who came in solo but still fell
off the radar after one or two hits (Osaman Kwaku, Omanhene Pozo, Mr. Oduro,
just to name a few). They have also been other musicians who after their debut
albums have been maintaining and dropping hits. Rappers like Okyeame Kwame (who
is in my opinion the best lyricist in Ghana), Obrafour, V.I.P have maintained
their streak of hits and new acts such as Sarkodie, R2bees, D-Black and Bradez
are continuing this trend. There are also upcoming artists who based on their
small catalogues prove that they have promising careers and if being let in the
door can survive in such a shaky industry. Underground acts like Ko-Jo Cue, Bra
Kevin, Kay-Ara, Blurr, Lousika, Joey B, Rumor, Ian Jazzi and a host of others
are proving with their mixtapes that they deserve a shot at the throne too.
All-In-All, we still have a growing industry and it’s too
early to compare ours to let’s say that of the americans since apart from the
fact that they have almost a 20year head start on us, we are also learning from
them. With the way we are progressing, it is safe to say that very soon we will
be rubbing shoulders with the big music industries, Kudos to our musicians,
Hiplife LIVES!!!

APPIETUS THE REALLY VERSATILE IN GHANA MUSIC
The music industry in Ghana has seen so much talent in the
field of producing and sound engineering, some had their season during which
they ruled the airwaves and conquered Ghana but they eventually faded away.
Appietus belongs to the class of producers who have lasted long in the industry
and survived all the changes in trends till now. He has relied on his ability
to blend with the trend whilst keeping his sound distinct.
With hits and award winning songs for almost everyone from
okyeame Kwame and 4x4, to Obrafour and 55, he has also become the go-to-guy for
his adlibs which ironically nobody understands (not even him). Ghanaians seem
to have fallen in love with these adlibs and musicians from all angles are
calling on him to help them make a hit. He popularized the Azonto groove by
sampling South African Kaito and now the whole nation has been whipped into
frenzy by it.
Currently, he has hits like Azonto Fiesta by Sarkodie, Move
Back by 55, Faithful by Okyeame Kwame etc. Musicroom GH wishes him the best in all his
endeavors and hope he will continue to churn out the beautiful music that we
are accustomed to hearing from him.

BRADEZ... HYPED OR UNDER-HYPED?
The Ghanaian music industry has seen a lot of music groups from the
days of E.T Mensah and the ramblers till today. Hiplife like all the
other genres, has had quiet a number of rap groups, some of them very
talented and others just built on hype. Groups such as Akyeame,
TH4Kwages, V.I.P, Buk Bak, 4x4 among others have stood strong in the
ever changing tides of the Ghanaian music scene with quite a good
number of them still standing.
There is one rap group in Ghana now which seems to be underrated even
with accolades such as the 2010 GMA for Most Popular Song of the Year
and MOAMA west african song of the year 2010.
Bradez which consists of Stone the flow king n Kunta Kinte, have been
moving crowds since the days of their 1st single 'one gallon' and yet
are still under-rated by most people in the industry. They have made
their doubters love them, even those that recognized them more for
being the brothers of Okyeame Kwame.
After the release of their second album 'the breakthrough' (which did
not feature Okyeame Kwame on any of the singles) spawned hits such as
'Dondo' 'Run Things' and what remains their biggest song till date
'Simple', Kunta Kinte got sick leaving his elder brother Stone to
stand alone for the group. A task which the flow king handled well
since he managed to keep the name of the group alive till now (Kunta
recovered and has been performing with Stone). Many of the music
lovers in Ghana tipped 'The Breakthrough' as the best album
that year but the organisers of GMA had a different view.
Many fans in Ghana believe that they are the best rap group in country
since they excel at any place you put them. Others also feel they rap
better when they are featured on people's
songs often out-shining the owners of the song and making it their
own. Despite the numerous fanfare, they are still not getting the
credit they deserve from the industry.
With their upcoming album 'Conquer The World', Bradez seek take the
respect they deserve and gain recognition not only in Africa but
worldwide. With singles like 'Me Do Me Ghana' which was produced by
Senyo Beatz (of CUE Records) and features D-Black making the waves, we
hope this time around Ghana recognizes their efforts and they are
rewarded.

IS SARKODIE AFRAID TO ADRESS KOFI SUPREME’S CORRECTION
It’s been the talk of town that Kofi
Supreme, the Kumasi underground has taken upon himself to correct musicians. He
started with Opanka on the simple cover by Bradez, and now BET award winner
Sarkodie is at the receiving end of his lyrical rage. With his two new singles,
Correction Pt. 2 and Eko He, he has addressed issues raised by Sarkodie in the
‘Okodie No’ and ‘Fair Warning’ (which many people believe is a diss song
towards Lynx Entertainment).
The question
is, if Sarkodie featured in two diss songs towards Lynx entertainment and Asem,
why can’t he address Kofi Supreme? Or is
Kofi Supreme dissing Sarkodie to get public attention because of his big fan
base in Ghana and Africa?
The questions remain to be answered, and the
fact that Opanka felt the need to reply Kofi Supreme in his guest verse on Kwaw
Kese’s ‘Popping’ proves that he is getting attention with his lyrical
corrections. We at Musicroom GH hopes that Kofi
Supreme will
take his talent a step further and develop into a better artiste than all those
he criticizes.

IS BLURR ABOUT TO TAKE THE ‘MIXTAPE KING’ TITLE FROM Ko-Jo Cue???
For the past two months CUE recording artist, Blurr, has
been busy recording his sophomore mixtape entitled The Blurricane Tape (TBT).
Known for his aggressive style of rapping, he beautifully crafts funny stories
(nsemkwaa) about life in Africa, his rapping abilitiesand the GHRap culture,
puts them together in a powerful sequence for the pleasure of his listeners.
News reaching ‘MusicroomGH’ is that he is on a mission to take the ‘MIXTAPE
KING’ title from his label mate Ko-Jo Cue, who is one of Ghana’s best upcoming
emcees.
With the first single ‘Double Trouble’ which ironically
features Ko-Jo Cue out already and taking the underground music scene by storm,
one can only expect greatness from a member of a team that has been consistent
as far as the production of quality music is concerned.
The BlurricaneTape features artists such as Cabum (one of
the finest rapper/producers and the son of Alhaji K. Frimpong),GH female rapper
and singer Lousika with her combination of French and English rap, as well as
other underground acts such as Big Shady, Drilickxs, Sly and Efe. It also
features production from Peewee, Taylorz and Juniorbeatz. The diversity of
production and collaborations will help the mixtape cut across all genres.Since
Ko-Jo Cue appearing on the tape and also serving as an advisor/mentor and
helping Blurr put together the tape, it looks like Blurr is making a claim for
the ‘Mixtape King’ title in an attempt to prove to the old man he has grown to
his level and even better.
We at Musicroom GH hope Blurr gets to achieve all of his
goals and be among others who have already made it. Watch out for The
Blurricane Tape and his debut video.
