Blurr, the journey so far

Blurr Cue Raymond, an artiste signed on to CUE records.

23 year old Blurr Cue Raymond has been doing his own thing for the past few years in Kumasi and he shares his thoughts on some issues with Totalshowbiz.com. He believes that even though Azonto is currently the trend, it can never sway him from mainstream hiphop, a genre he says is the rhythm and the gospel of the streets.

It wasn’t easy to get the up-and-coming rapper to open up to us, especially on his birthday (which falls today, October 19), but first he shared a bit of his life with us.

TS: Why Blurr?

BCR: Blur means something unclear so in other to know me,you need to get closer to me to know me better. I’m a bit reserved naturally but deep inside and up close, I’m a fun person to be with. Also, my lyrics are not really straight forward, you gotta listen closely to decipher the codes in my rhythms and lyrics.

TS: Before you blurr us out, tell us a bit about you.

BCR: I recently graduated from the Kumasi Polytechnic and hope to further my education soon. I rap, I produce beats and I write songs too. I’m basically inspired by my surroundings, the people I listen to and the people around around me. I’ve released many mixtapes unto the market and I’m currently promoting the Blurricane, my latest mixtape. I love to hang out mostly in the studio but I wouldn’t miss the chance to hang out with great friends and great minds.

TS: What makes you different  from other artistes around?

BCR: I have a strong voice appeal that attracts people to listen. The blend of English, Twi and Pidgin also enables my music to cut across all angles. I think that’s why my mixtape is doing so well now. I also have the support of the whole CUE and that sets me apart. You know, in this industry one should have people looking out for them and that is exactly what Peewezel and CUE does for me. It’s really heartwarming!

TS: Can you describe your first studio session?

BCR: laughs..Honestly,I forgot all my bars when I entered the booth. I was shaking ‘cos there were too many people around but I fell at ease after recording. I believe practice makes man perfect so since then up to now, am still polishing my skills. I’m still not perfect so am still learning.

TS: How do you feel when you hear your songs on radio?

BCR: I feel honored and humbled ‘cos it makes me know my effort is not in vain and it also gingers me to work more harder ‘cos not everyone gets that opportunity. It’s refreshing really!

TS: Apart from you label mates, which artistes or producers would you love to work with?

BCR: A whole lot including Kodi V, E.L, Ludacris, M.i, Edem, Kwabena Kwabena etc. Even though I like lots of the folks in the industry, I don’t see any one being a treat to me. I think I’m the special one..lol

                                                          

TS: Would you call the Ghanaian music industry a progressive one?

BCR: Nah, I think it’s just static. The ones already in the limelight ain’t helping the ones underground. The music industry can be progressive when the men in power learn to tolerate the ones underground. There are a lot of undiscovered talents going waste because there are not being given the opportunity. This has to change.

TS: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

BCR: Good question! Most people say the sky is the limit but for me, it’s gonna be my starting point. We are crossing  boundaries. We are taking Gh to another level. It’s all about CUE!

TS: Thanks for sharing some time off a day like this, your birthday to talk to us. Any final words?
